For more than 40 years, YWCA has honored exceptional women in our region by inducting them into the YWCA Metro St. Louis Academy of Leaders. While these women are from varied backgrounds, professions, and viewpoints, they share the traits of exceptional leadership, perseverance, and innovation. The Academy is a sisterhood of important and notable women in St. Louis. We are proud to highlight the contributions of women, including women of color, in our community.
For “HERstory St. Louis,” each Academy member wrote her own story after much consideration and with the understanding that this book will be a touchstone for future generations. this book is not a biography of Academy members, but rather a distillation of the lessons they want to share with you.
