Monday, September 25, 2023 / St. Louis, Missouri – YWCA Metro St. Louis is proud to announce Professor of Law at Washington University School in St. Louis School of Law and YWCA Academy of Leaders member Kim Norwood as the next featured speaker in our Academy of Leaders Speaker Series. She will lead a conversation titled, “Evaluating Gender Bias to Achieve Equity for our Daughters,” on October 5 at the historic Phyllis Wheatley Heritage Center at 6 – 7:30pm.
The mission of YWCA Metro St. Louis is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. As part of this commitment, we are dedicated to ending gender bias and the resulting inequalities experienced by women.
In this talk, Professor Norwood will explore how society shapes gender roles and the impact that has on women’s lives. The recent popularity of Barbie-mania provides an opportunity to reevaluate how we raise our children in light of evolving gender expectations. It’s time to challenge established norms and cultivate a culture of equity, free from stereotypes and limitations, for our daughters and future generations. Join us for this essential conversation as we work towards a future where our daughters can flourish in a society that that values equity and empowers them to reach their full potential.
